No matter the time of year, North Texas weddings at the Diamond A Ranch are simply stunning. Whether you’re taking in the panoramic Hill Country views from one of our outdoor ceremony sites or relaxing by the pool outside the Homestead Quarters, there’s nothing quite like a weekend on our family-owned ranch.
If you’ve just started planning your wedding, you may be wondering which season is the best fit. And if you’ve already chosen your date, you might be thinking through how to keep guests comfortable as the weather shifts. We’re here to help!
Read on for our guide to all four seasons on the ranch—what to expect, what to plan for, and how to create an exceptional guest experience.

North Texas Weddings: Season by Season
Spring (March–May)
Spring in North Texas is breathtaking. Wildflowers bloom, the oaks come back to life, and softly diffused light settles over the fields. Temperatures typically range from a comfortable 65 to 85 degrees.
It’s also storm season, which means the heaviest rainfall of the year. At the Diamond A Ranch, we always have a real weather backup plan in place (not just a “hope it doesn’t rain” plan). We monitor forecasts closely in the days leading up to your wedding and pivot calmly and confidently if needed.
Spring weddings are beautifully romantic. They just require thoughtful planning.

Summer (June-August)
Think big skies, bold sunsets, and long golden evenings. Yes, it’s hot—usually between 90 and 105 degrees—but rainfall is rare.
The truth is that summer weddings can be magical when they’re designed intentionally. Starting your ceremony closer to sunset, offering a cold beverage station, and hosting your reception inside our air-conditioned Homestead Saloon all go a long way in protecting the guest experience.
We also offer the Saloon Turf, an outdoor ceremony location that stays green even when the surrounding countryside turns dry and golden. Your photos will still be stunning—just with that warm Texas glow instead of lush spring green.
Texas summers aren’t for everyone. But couples who love vivid sunsets and lively evening receptions truly thrive in this season.

Fall (September-November)
Fall is our most-requested season for North Texas weddings, and for good reason. The heat breaks, temperatures settle into the mid-seventies, and the evenings feel incredible. The ranch’s natural hues deepen into rich, earth-toned shades.
It’s reliable. It’s comfortable. And it photographs beautifully.
We can even open the garage doors at the Homestead Saloon to create an unforgettable indoor-outdoor reception space.
Rainfall is lighter than in spring, but as every Texan knows, anything can happen. If you’re looking for the most predictable weather window, late October through mid-November is the sweet spot.

Winter (December-February)
We believe Texas winter weddings are vastly underrated.
Expect clear skies, early golden sunsets, and cozy reception energy. Temperatures generally stay above 40 degrees—just crisp enough to feel seasonal—and rainfall is typically light. An added bonus? Vendor and lodging availability tends to be better this time of year.
Snow is rare, though a brisk north wind is always possible. Blankets, patio heaters, and thoughtful guest communication make all the difference, transforming your winter wedding from “chilly” to intentionally cozy.

When Is It the Hottest?
Late July through mid-August.
If you’re sensitive to heat, we’ll walk through ceremony timing and guest comfort strategies before you book. We’re honest about summer, and we know exactly how to manage it well.
When is Rain the Heaviest?
Late March through May.
This is peak storm season. That doesn’t mean you’ll have a rainy wedding day—but it does mean you need a venue with a real plan (like us!).

Specific Dates Couples Should Know About
Being near Granbury means we enjoy plenty of small-town charm, but it also means certain weekends fill hotel blocks quickly.
Here are a few to keep in mind:
4th of July
Granbury hosts one of the largest Independence Day celebrations in North Texas. Between the lake festivities, the historic square, and the fireworks show, hotels book fast.
Christmas on the Square (Late November-December)
Historic downtown transforms into a full holiday production. It’s beautiful, but very busy.
Harvest Wine Festivals & Seasonal Events
Fall weekends sometimes overlap with downtown festivals and lake events.
Major Sports Weekends
Big Texas football matchups can impact regional lodging, especially if you’re bringing guests from the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
If your wedding weekend coincides with a major local event, we strongly recommend securing hotel blocks as early as possible.

How to Keep Guests Comfortable in Every Season
Spectacular views are a given at the Diamond A Ranch. But exceptional hosting is what elevates the entire experience. Here are our season-by-season recommendations:
Spring
- Provide umbrella baskets just in case
- Consider covered cocktail hour options
- Have a clear, communicated weather backup plan
Summer
- Start the ceremony close to sunset
- Offer a welcome station with cold beverages
- Provide fans or airflow support
- Keep the ceremony short and intentional
- Offer small water bottles at the ceremony
Fall
- Recommend guests bring a jacket or shawl for the evening
- Maintain a clear timeline so guests aren’t waiting outdoors
Winter
- Set out patio heaters
- Provide blanket baskets
- Start the ceremony earlier to maximize daylight

The key to an exceptional guest experience isn’t crossing your fingers and hoping for the best—it’s planning with intention.
