Our Favorite Portrait Spots around the Diamond A Ranch

The Bridal Casita

The Bridal Casita is one of our favorite locations on the property. It is clean, comfortable, and bathed in natural light! Not only is it the best place for getting ready, it’s also an ideal portrait location—especially for bridal portraits! We highly encourage brides to include space in their timeline for portraits right after hair and makeup. These precious moments before the ceremony or first look are great to capture exactly who you are and how you feel!

The Stoneway

The Stoneway is a popular ceremony location, but if you plan on getting married elsewhere on the property, we highly recommend snapping a few portraits here! With terracotta stone underfoot and beautiful hill country views all around, this is the perfect place for individual, group, or couple portraits.

The Live Oak Grove

With a tapestry of branches and foliage overhead, the live oak grove is a stunning spot for portraits. Not only does the canopy of leaves provide a beautiful backdrop, but they also provide shade on sunny Texas days!

The Saloon Turf

Are you getting married late in the year but still wish for greenery in your portraits? The Saloon Turf is the perfect place! Overlooking the forest, the Saloon Turf remains green all year and provides a wide open space for portraits. This is an especially popular portrait spot at sunset since the large skies give you full view of the vibrant colors.

Inside the Homestead Saloon

Getting portraits inside the Homestead Saloon can be tricky if you’re also having your ceremony in there, but if you can make it happen, we highly recommend it! Whether you visit the venue ahead of your wedding for bridal portraits or make time on the day itself, the Homestead Saloon has much to offer. We have floor-to-ceiling cathedral windows with beautiful sunset views and custom wood doors made of reclaimed wood from sheep barns in the 1800s! If you’re looking for indoor portrait spots, the Homestead Saloon is the place to start.

The Breezeway

The Breezeway is the most underutilized spot for portraits, but it is so beautiful and unique! This hallway is lined with original brick and houses hand-carved wooden chairs. Even if you just pop in for a moment, we recommend checking out the Breezeway for an exciting portrait opportunity.

The Lake

With rich greenery and a reflection of the sky, our five-acre lake is another stunning portrait spot. Wander through the tall grasses and admire the way the water moves while getting bridal portraits or group photos!

The James Surls Sculpture

Did you know that the Diamond A Ranch houses an original James Surls sculpture? This large, hand-carved piece of art makes for a fascinating portrait spot (and conversation topic). If you’re looking for something out of the box, hop on the golf cart to check it out!

The Pool

The lake isn’t our only source of water, either! We have a beautiful stone courtyard with a heated inground pool just a few meters away from the Homestead Saloon. Take portraits beneath the stone archway or take after some of our previous couples and jump in the pool after your ceremony to end the night with a splash!

Portrait Spots for Every Couple

Due to the sheer size of the property, there are so many beautiful spaces to explore around the Diamond A Ranch! This is why we encourage couples to tour the property and invite photographers to check it out before the wedding day! It’s important to understand which portrait spots you want to take advantage of and plan for the time it takes to get there.

Bridal portraits are another way to take full advantage of all of our locations. Take a day before your wedding to get your hair and makeup done (in the Bridal Casita), wear your dress, and take pictures all along the grounds. We recommend choosing where you want your ceremony and taking portraits everywhere else so your final wedding gallery has a variety of backgrounds. But regardless of where you choose to take your portraits, we guarantee that they will be beautiful! Explore our wedding packages and contact us to secure your date. Or, better yet, schedule a tour to see all these portrait spots for yourself!
