Things to Do in Granbury, TX During Your Wedding Week: A Local Guide from Diamond A Ranch
If your wedding weekend is bringing you to North Texas, the best things to do in Granbury, TX, are not too far from our front gate. Just 30 minutes from our family-owned ranch in Weatherford, Granbury has a way of wowing everyone who passes through. It’s full of history and charm, all under the wide-open Texas sky.
Here’s what we recommend adding to your wedding itinerary – for you as a couple and for your wedding guests.
Historic Downtown Granbury Square
The Hood County Courthouse anchors one of the prettiest town squares in all of North Texas. It has several Texas architectural staples — limestone storefronts, the Granbury Opera House on the corner, and live music.
We recommend carving out time for a slow morning here. Whether it’s with the wedding party, or time with family, you can wander around the antique shops and local boutiques. Then, grab lunch at one of the many cozy restaurants.
Lake Granbury
Lake Granbury is what gives the town its laid-back energy. You can rent a boat, paddleboard at sunset, fish from a public pier, or just spread out at City Beach Park. It’s a great place to relax and spend some time outside with friends and family before the big day.
It’s where wedding parties go to exhale. It’s also the first place we’d send guests flying in early. Lake Granbury is the kind of place that will turn their trip into a vacation!
The Best Wining and Dining in Granbury, TX
Granbury punches above its weight on food and drink. Depending on your vibe, or whether you want to carve out a date night with your fiancé before the wedding, we recommend:
- D’Vine Wine: Texas wines, friendly pours, walking distance from the square
- Paradise Bistro & Coffee Co.: Comfort food with generous portions
- El Gallo de Oro: Tex-Mex with a patio, and the perfect warm-weather companion
- BAKED! Bread & Pastry Co.: Pastries and coffee, the kind of stop you may come back to more than once
- Pearl Street Station: A historic building turned restaurant, great for date night
- Christina’s American Table: Elevated classics on the square
There are also a handful of charming local coffee shops on and around the square — easy to find on a slow morning. For rehearsal dinners or out-of-town friends, the lineup above is your roster.
Outdoor & Family-Friendly Picks
If your wedding party includes kids, or you want outdoor recommendations packed with activities for your guests, you’ve got options.
Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is 30 minutes south in Glen Rose. You drive through 1,800 acres of open habitat while giraffes, zebras, and rhinos wander up to the car. One of the best half-days in North Texas.
Dinosaur Valley State Park sits next door, and it’s a must-see. Actual dinosaur tracks are preserved in the Paluxy River bed, plus miles of hiking trails.
Closer in, there’s plenty of walking around the lake, and the city’s park system is well kept.
Seasonal Highlights
Granbury runs on a busy event calendar. A few of them worth knowing:
- Granbury Wine Walk (spring): Local shops pour Texas wines around the square
- Candlelight Tour of Homes (early December): Historic homes lit and open for tours with the coziest atmosphere
- Summer Concerts on the Square: Free, weekly, and a Granbury institution
If your wedding weekend overlaps with one of these, lean in. They’re some of the best events all year. Just be sure to remind guests that hotel blocks fill fastest during these events, so they’ll need to book early if they want to secure a room.
Where to Stay in Granbury, TX
Granbury has good options at every price point. For wedding guests coming in from out of town, we usually point them to these three:
- Hotel Lucy: Granbury’s newer boutique hotel. It’s modern and walkable to the square. Perfect for couples who want their wedding to feel upscale at every touchpoint, even down to where guests stay.
- Inn on Lake Granbury: Directly on the water, classic Texas hospitality, ideal for parents of the bride or groom, but it’s hard for anyone to resist those views!
- Our Homestead Quarters: Our 6,000 sq. ft. vacation rental right on the ranch, sleeps up to 18, with its own private pond on the property. Book this if you want the full North Texas Wedding experience.
Pair the Homestead Quarters with a hotel block in town, and you’ve got every guest covered.
